Rum Jungle Ipoh

Entrance to Rum Jungle @ Sunway City Ipoh

It was hot out there @ Rum Jungle. Just one tip, if you are rooting for the home crowd pleaser, GET OUT of the place by 12am. From 9pm - 12pm, the band; Thunderstorm, is fantastic! In between intermissions, the deejay is absolutely out of this world, belting out Prince, A-Ha, Beach Boys, All Saints, Black Machine, Beastie Boyz, Warren G, Black Eyed Peas, Abba, George Michael, etc, you get what I mean... its absolutely fun! The place is so much bigger than the one in KL and of course, more happening! Pelak Mali Yob...

However, there are of course its setbacks. There are 3 DJs in rotation; 2 on the mainframe and another trainee DJ. There's one nicknamed 'Noise Machine'. He's good. The other one is a bit Ipoh Kai... he belts out most of the Chinese songs. His main problem is, he talks too much on the mic when he shouldnt. He should just let the music do the talking. His shift is from 12am onwards. The best night to go would be on Thursday nites when its Ladies Nite (I think). Phhwwoooaaar!

All in all, I would say this club is above average. I would give it a 70% mark. It does live up to its billing somehow. Another one would be Mike's Place's Vineyard, my second favourite hotspot for jazz enthusiasts. But Rum Jungle Ipoh... errrrmmm.... still new. One thing's for sure... it does draw in the crowd. Why not? Ample parking space >500 car park spaces, tight security and a good place for Ipohans to feel the almost-near-to-KL-vibe. Another reminder... patrons will need to pay cover charge OR buy drinks at the entrance after 9pm. Good in a way, good riddance to gate crashers. Another thing for sure, the rest of the clubs better buck up because Rum Jungle's car park is almost full every night. Take a load of that! ....

Week XVI: The Countdown Begins, YET Again...

Week 16 has begun. Approximately 2 more weeks if I am lucky. Time for some pictorial review now that I have a wee bit time. Its been hectic but fun!

Winter & Solitude in Pakistan... ahhh, the cruces of life.

Murree Hills: Adaptation of a nomenclature for memories left behind
but shall never be lost in time.

Lahore Fort: Through the lenses and senses of impeccable solitude amidst the grand architecture, you can almost feel humbled with its heyday greatness.

Lahore Fort: True tranquility

Its almost easy to forget its been 2 weeks... 2 Weeks of topsy turvy non stop fun and contemplation. I can't start to imagine how it'd be back to Pakistan. I am sure it takes time and all's well. Can I afford not to? Pictures above paints a roseate setting. Far from the truth, its hard to imagine further but one thing's for sure, I am not stopping the party times till the very end! Heh! ....

Week XV: Ending Week XV

I am fine.

First of all, Congratulations on MS. Its your dream come true.

Secondly, I did not do anything to mold you to who you are now. You are what you are based on your true grit, confidence, determination and self motivation. You deserve it fully.

On another note, time flies. Soon, its back to nitty gritty of Pakiland. Better start my preparation now but before that, let's have fun guys!

Week XV: First Home Base

Sitted at Starbucks on a beautiful Sunday morning, this is the first real taste of relaxation under the account of my own space since I returned home. I have longed for these Sundays for a very very long time. No work, no stress, no pressure, no work related phone calls, no disturbances, no mind boggling plans, NOTHING! Under a makeshift palm tree at Starbucks Ipoh, with earplugs and songs of solitude, I can at least watch the world go by without a single worry! This feels good. In Pakistan, all these were non-existent and it was harsh reality the first day I was there. Foregoing all that I have been so used to wasn't easy but I guess its all part of the game plan for me to appreciate all that I have left behind 3 months ago.

People here are curious to know what I am smiling about with my Mocha Frap with Java chips as I am lounged on a comfy chair with my legs on the other in a sunbathing position, blogging my way out, and doing whatever I GOD damn feel is of due time. I am not going to even think about my return flight back to Pakistan for now. All I am more interested now is to ease up and chill.

Pakistan, in all its might, is Malaysia 30 years back in terms of conservativeness and structural splendour. However, all is not lost, some progress is better than none. Not too bad a place to work in, that is in Islamabad ONLY, the rest are a bit way behind. Being there has taught me loads and I am not going to deny that. Having been to numerous cities in AP and EU, I have come back to learn more and more on how to appreciate my own country. Most dont know that. Many take it for granted... the part which I hate to admit, is part of the Malaysian 'bo chap' attitude. Of course its sad but this is the way it is unfortunately. Malaysia is truly gifted!

The sun is beginning to set and as I look up to the horizon, I feel a sense of declaration proclaiming my sanity to the world. After a week of madness in KL, its all superlified cool in Ipoh. Trust me, its easy to forget the project on the other side of the world. I am immersed in a total hibernation mode now. :-)

More laters... let me enjoy the moment.
